What a great Weekend. Being selected as a participant of the Afro Women Workshop in Bonn, which was organized by Migrafrica and EYF, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn about leadership. From the 26th – 29th May I can say that the “black girl magic” happened.
Saying this, I mean that the weekend, gave me a reason to celebrate the beauty, power and resilience of black women – in Germany. The workshop, that had taken place, introduced to skills of a social entrepreneur for social inclusion.
With all the participants, one can say that Africa was presented of almost all geographic directions. Ambitioned women from Kenya, Eritrea, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon, Benin and Ethiopia gathered and “talked business”.
Learning how to act as a social entrepreneur is a long lasting process which needs a structured dialogue, so by discussing the present and future of the African Youth Diaspora in Germany, as also generally in Europe, the realities of many issues and challenges faced, were raised. Issues and challenges covered topics on cultural classism, sexism and lack of professional rising opportunities.
The aim was to find available opportunities to solve this matter of fact. A reasonable start has begun with the encouragement and support of young migrants arriving to Germany by associations as Migrafrica. Migrants will be schooled and advised in ways and steps to establish an integrated stay in Germany.
The project aims to strengthen the African Diaspora youth network in Germany. Changes depend on networking followed by regular meetings.
The main objective of the project for now is to design and establish a permanent online resource mobilization and capacity building tool. This is just the beginning of a journey and with the productive input and contributions to the session; we hope to make things happen. For the benefit for all of us.
